I was dying
Today at a rummage sale, where I scored big time, purchasing pilfered Nasa memorabilia, 80’s records and some pottery, I overheard the boys having the sale saying that I was cute (boys hahahhaa they were the same age as me but 6 boys living in a house… You can’t call them MEN, they are still BOYS at that stage). I found a rosy blush creepy up my cheeks. There I stood in all my mom-oscity. I was wearing my shortalls (you know overalls but shorts), my hair was carelessly clipped back, old Birkenstocks with chipped toe nail polish and ROOTS, Oh land sakes ROOTS. Black roots to my ears where the wrong red fiesta kicked into high gear. I looked like a victim of a henna explosion and these boys still found me fit to be called cute. I decided as I climbed into the car and drove off clutching the Nasa sign on the roof while I drove 20 in a 50 that I would immediately remedy the roots situation. I found myself a lovely dark shade with some ruby hints and fully committed myself. Snap! Rubber gloved I mixed potions, shaking and squeezing I worked the color into my hair and waited the appropriate 25 minutes. Enter problem 1 - no shower.. That’s right I STILL can not shower indoors. I assumed the praying position and crossed myself for good measure. With tepid to near freezing water I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed, pausing occasionally to let the tub drain. It was like some bad Psycho rip off in my own tub. Rinsing and rinsing. After what seemed like hours I could finally do the cream rinse. At this point fistfuls of hair started coming out. For most people this would be terrifying, I however have massive amounts of hair. This type of shedding is NORMAL! Once I rinsed rinsed rinsed again I gave my self a good scrub down with Dr Bronners Peppermint castile soap (wow it lit me up! Watch those private parts ladies~ zip bang!!). Upon exiting the tub I flipped my hair upside down and started drying it. I am so pleased with the results. It’s a crying shame I don’t have some place to go tonight because gee my hair looks kickass. Well anyways I was just dying to share my experience. Its been sometime since I’ve home dyed. For a time a good friend happened to be a hair stylist and did all sorts of fun stuff so it was a bit nerve wracking venturing out on my own. I’m off to spend the night petting my hair, mmmmmm sooo soft.
that is of course with loads of flash, but you get the idea
