When You Can’t Rant
Today I wanted to spew an earful about the ass hats at city hall and our permitting woes. I’ve decided that Murphy’s Law would beat me down and one of the staff would turn out to be a reader, thus I have shelved my tirade for now. Instead I bring you happy baby thoughts and continue with the naming nuttiness; I find pondering the possibilities soothing.
Girl Names C
Cady (This is my favorite spelling, I’d never use this due to popularity)
Callie, Calleigh (Don’t know if I’d use this b/c we once named a love bird Callie, classic rookie prekids mistake)
Charlotte (not sure if I’d use this, but I’ve always thought it was pretty)
Clara
Corina
Corinne
Boys Names C
Cortland (nick name would be Cort, I thought this a clever way to work in my middle name- Courtney)
Cletus (ok so I am lying about this one, just checking to see if you are paying attention… but then again the prospect of naming a kids after The Simpsons’ slack jawed yokel IS tempting)
Christian (I have always adored this name, maybe it’s some left over crush from Heathers, I however would not use the name)
Girls Names D
Darby
Daphne
Delaney (regionally popular here and now refers to a specific section of a nearby city thus killing it for me)
Dreama (a name I have adored since I was a kid. Would I saddle a kid with it? I’d have to be pretty doped up - so yes it is a possibility bwhahahahaha)
Boys Names D
Dawson (should I hide my face in shame? This name has really grown on me. The kid would also have a built in theme song)
Dean (would use as a middle name only. This is my step dad’s name and I am not much for juniors, it would get very confusing)
Dante
Demetrius (love this name but would never use it- too much of a mouthful around here)

I was always a fan of Clarissa and Caleb, but do to popularity of Caleb we changed it to a K for my last son.
Dante, not sure about that one, poor kid would always be known as Dante’s peak.
Christian, yeah, gotta love Slater.
Well, mutter under your breath enough and Murphy can’t get ya!

Girl C:Chelsea ( I know it isn’t on the list, but I have always loved in and would have named #2 if it was a girl)
Girl D:Delia (again not on your list, but I like it)
Boy C:Cortland
Boy D:Dawson ( my all time fave show, I’m a dork :P)

I have a niece named Clarah Rae and a cousin nicknamed Callie (from Carolyn). It’s been so long since I did the whole “baby name” thing - this is fun!

Wow, this could easily become obsessive.
But a name is the first gift a parent gives their child - and one that doesn’t get donated or thrown away after a year or two, either.
But I agree with your husband - I could never pick out a name without “meeting” the baby first.
How did you come up with your previous names?

Oh gosh. I’m so glad that our little guy’s name was pretty much decided from the time we met - if we have any more, AGH!!

Megan Jayd is so named because it was the name that stuck in my head from the moment I first felt her presence. Michael David is Michael David because Michael is a good, solid, masculine name that doesn’t have much teasing potential (kids can be so cruel!) and it’s also the name of David’s oldest friend (who doesn’t know yet that we’ve nominated him as our children’s godparent!). David because, well, we couldn’t not give him a middle name, since his sister got one, and “David” goes quite nicely with “Michael”. It’s also his father’s name.
Until about 4 days ago, we thought I might be pregnant again, too. Turns out I was just late.

And in a seperate comment, because it deserves its own, personal, individual comment:
Congratulations!

My SIL’s name is Adreama but they all call her Dreama.
Isn’t picking out baby names fun?? I already have the name picked out for our future child! (when I get pregnant, that is…)

I really like the name Daphne. I also really like the name Lilly and Penelope.
For boy names, I like Jones, Christian, Rory, Alex and Tripp (even if it does sound like a country singer.)

hmmmm. I like Delaney…
I named a dog Maggie, and if I hadn’t, that would be think two’s name. sigh. haha.

I’m a fan of the classic names myself: Charlotte, Clara, Daphne. My friends have a Dante and I think it’s awesome. Demetrius always reminds me of a midsummer night’s dream.
