Naming Names I, J, K, L
Upon discovering that my husband had spilled Method Lavender Multi-purpose cleaner on my 100,000 Baby names book, It occurred to me that I left things hanging. We’re not even half way through!!! Today I bring you I, J, K , & L
Girls I
Isabella (this and it’s derivatives are names I would not use due to popularity and the possibility of making my sister-in-law cry, no matter how much I adore the nick name Izzy.)
Isabel
Isobel
Boys I
Isaac (another I’d never use due to popularity)
Girls J
Jorja (with a nick name of Jory, I adore this name!)
Jamie (I like this name a lot but it sounds too plain next to my other children, almost like an afterthought)
Josie (I just like the attitudy way you an say thing name, almost like you are chewing it)
James (yes I know traditionally this is a boys name but after meeting a female James, my mind has changed. It’s a little too progressive for me as I feel I’m not quite bold enough to make the gender jump with this one, but I wanted to put it out there for peeps who are less wussy than I)
Jemma (This was nearly Tessa’s name. I like the flow and Jem as a nick name? I mean Jem is truly outrageous! Jemma however just didn’t suit Tessa when we met.)
Jessa (this name is bitter sweet for us)
Jessamine (Old fashioned and Lovely, I can’t resist it’s lure. I wouldn’t use it b/c of it’s potential to be mixed up with Tessa)
Jocelyn (a baby sitter I had growing up started my love affair with this name)
Boys Names J
Jude (this is my ab fab FAVORITE boy name right now, The Hubster is not nearly so enthused)
Jaxon (the traditional spelling is OVERUSED! I still love the name but it kills me that everywhere I go I hear someone hollering at Jaxon or Jackson)
Jack
Jett
Joshua (a name I’ve loved since girlhood, various acquaintances over the years have ruined it for me)
Girls names K
Kate (short, simple sweet. I love it! It’s too plain with my other girls though)
Keely, Keeley (adorable, but too close to my sisters name)
Boys Names K
Kade (Short, Strong, Scottish - DH likes it and it is one of my top 3 boys names)
Keegan (I’ve always pictured a feisty tiny dark haired boy. The Hubster refuse this name b/c it means “little and fiery” he wants something that means “calm and quiet”)
Girls Names L
Lana (said Lon nah as Lan nah reminds me of lanyard)
Lia (growing in popularity, the meaning makes me all warm and fuzzy “bringer of good news”)
Liesel (ever since The Sound Of Music I have had a love affair with this name… my mother-in-law named one of her dogs this though)
Lily (The Hubster likes this one, I know two baby girls due in 2 or 3 months who will be Lily’s…)
Liv (is it too hip?)
Lucy (evokes the image of a ball of sunshine)
Boys Names L
Landon
Lander
Levi (this is a great name, but I will never use it. When coupled with our last name the effect is along the lines of E-I-E-I-O *puke*)
Lex
Lincoln (with a nick name of Linc, this is just a classic choice)
What are your thoughts on I through L. What would be on your list?

I can’t believe you still have so many to choose from. By our 3rd the husband was nixing every single freakin’ option. It was ‘Ava’ or ‘Mary’. We picked ‘Ava’ and now it’s like #20 in the most popular trendy names of white people list. Oh well. It suits her.

I like Jude. Not so sure about the other ones for some of the same reasons
I haven’t been reading for some time (Obviously) so I caught up and I just wanted to say,
CONGRATS!

Well, I’m really partial to Isobel.
Lily is my step-monster’s dog’s name, so that was out for us. And Liv is my other daughter’s nickname (her choice, not mine), but it’s cute.
And I do love the name Lucy.

I love Kade and Keegan - I think Keegan could do the “gender bender” thing and be a girls name also…

So, we all know I love Juliana for the J names!
Jude rocks - still might use that and I have to say I love Lincoln too!

As a general rule, I am harshly against any boy name ending in an ‘an’, ‘en’, or ‘on’. That being said, however, Landon is doable. Love love LOVE Lily…hope to use it myself as a middle name someday, even though it is popular. Jemma is great…it is very popular in England but hasn’t peaked here yet. Speaking of L’s (and since I’m convinced you’re having another girl! :-)) I came across a great one the other day and I have been drooling over it ever since: Lhiannan. It means “sweetheart” in celtic. I love the funky spelling, yet it is easy on the tongue and the ear. The Lhiannan Shee (the “sweetheart fairy”) is a fairy spirit of celtic myths that men fall in love with and then no mortal woman can compare. She inspires great acts of art and poetry. *Drool, drool*
Hugs to you, love!

I
Isabella is hugely popular. But it is true Izzy is adorable.
J
I love the spelling of Jorja.
Josie was my grandma’s name.
We actually considered James for girl actually when we were pregnant with the twins. But I was not a Jamie fan and forsaw that as a nickname.
Jude, love it but it is becoming a hit everywhere. I have always love Jaxon. OMG Jett, I swoon! Isn’t that Travolta’s son?
K
Keegan has been my favorite since I was little!
L
Lily is way overused. Liv rocks. Levi was another of our twin choices.
My son thinks these names are gay, he just wanted me to add that. Like he knows ANYTHING about naming babies.
But if you name the baby Braden, he will adore you.

I am on a mission this weekend to spread some blog love, so here we go. Magically I found your blog. Your wit and creativity has me hooked. I adore they way you never hesitate to have fun with your children and I can hardly wait to have shaving cream in my bath tub with our toddler! Thanks for being an amazing mom and your new little one, no matter what you name her/him is so lucky to be coming into the world with a mommy like you.

Need I remind you that I am a Jamie, and that I have a sister named Tessa even (sorry, no Miras)…and I was not an afterthought, I was the first!
I really like Kade.

For girl names “K” you have Kate, but you felt it was too simple.
My daughter is Katarina (which Kate is a beautiful nickname of as well as Katie for the younger years)….just thought I would put that out there.

Hold up, can we go back to “A” for a sec. There’s a girls name I forgot that I love…Aura. K, carry on.

If my boy had been a girl, he would have been Lucy.

Kade….love it…cannot even begin to tell you about Lily. Vested interest I suppose.
Peeing is the best thing in the world after a long car trip…..

I love Jude and Kade. I went to school with a Neely, always thought that was adorable.
