17

Belly portrait at 17 weeks.
Practically everyone has commented this week about how I’ve “fallen out” or “popped out.” Now that there is no mistaking it, the hands have started gravitating to my bump. In a little over a week I go to see the high risk doctor and will get another ultrasound. I am SO EXCITED.

On the not so exciting front, I am facing some tough decisions regarding Mira and her education. She’s not flourishing this year and seems to be regressing. Eye contact is down, she’s mumbling more. She’s surly at home and has panic attacks in the morning before school. She does not like to talk about school and quite frankly is just depressed. My heart is hurting for her and I’m going to have to take steps to correct the situation- one’s that may further throw her into a tailspin with the hope of bringing her out of the situation and into a happier and more productive environment. Wish me luck.

    Adorable belly shot! I’m jealous!
As for your Mira, I went through panic attacks in second grade & withdrew. I can feel her pain. I would spend the mornings in the bathroom, nauseated from nerves. I don’t remember how I got over it all, but I do remember my Mom. Stellar rock of strength & support. She still is. I’ll be praying for you, girl!

May Mira know something BIG is in the air? Juli is freakin on me because of the pregnancy (one of many things).
You don’t figure she still thinks you ate all the sausages do you?

Awwww, poor Mira. Good luck with whatever changes you have coming. Little girls are not supposed to be depressed. Poor little dolly.

Your tummy is so cute I can hardly stand it. Isn’t it amazing when you realize a baby lives in there?!

Now is the time for Great Expectations- not troubled mornings. I wish you luck.

Good luck with Mira. I’m sure you will do what she needs. Mommy does indeed, know best.

    And love the belly.

But glad you’re packing it around and not me!

Wow, belly. Mine looks nothing like that and you and I are just days apart. I need to snap another photo as soon as my new camera comes in.

At least you have some options with Mira. You will figure it out with her, I’m quite sure.

Poor little thing. It’s hard to see them regress. Mr. Magoo also seems to be regressing somewhat.
    You’ll figure it out.

I ended up home schooling my three oldest this year because they too weren’t flourishing. Man, it can be hard, but at least they are learning, learning to love learning, and feeling better about themselves.

I hope things change for Mira. I have one kid with ADHD/Tourette Syndrome with some mild OCD so I know what it’s like to see kids suffer in the school system. It’s so sad. They grow so fast and they spend so much time at school you just want it to be everything it should. And sometimes it’s everything it shouldn’t be. :o( School can be stressful, there’s no doubt about it.
