She Guessed

We are surrounded by pregnant women and I suppose it was only a matter of time before Mira put 2 and 2 together. We were trying to hold off until after my Monday ultrasound but Mira walked up, rubbed my belly, declared “You have a baby in your belly!” and gave me a quizzical look that screamed CONFIRM THIS!!

We spent an afternoon, just Mama, Tessa and Mira, looking through the photos of when I was pregnant with them and when they were teeny tiny babies. I was feeling nostalgic and a bit sad when Mira broke the mood wide open.

“the baby is going to grow and grow and grow in you tummy and then it’s going to come out your mouth and I be a big sister again!”

… Whoa wait come out my where?

Tessa then put her eye up to my belly button and declared “I can see da baby, mama!”

Wow, I certainly have some explaining to do over the next few months.

“I can see the baby”- Wow, I love this “New Age” medicine.
Actually, I love the things that kids say- that was one of the top five quotes, I’ve ever heard.

Were you just putting it off because of the risk involved? I’ve really been trying to “prep” Cherry for the arrival of the little one, but she has no clue what I’m talking about!

    How adorable!

I sure you were stunned by that one! Well, I guess it’s almost better that they decided for themselves instead of you telling them. Now you can just tell them on MONDAY that they are getting a brother or sister.

I think Mira has the right idea. Babies coming out of our mouths would probably hurt a lot less. :-)

Maybe she did see it! My Big Girl said she saw my Little Girl with her ‘inside eye’. And she was right!

    Love kid-isms!

This is my third attempt to leave a comment. I’m thinking I shouldn’t have switched to blogger beta.. lol

I wanted to say you have to love kids and their honesty and eagerness to demand answers to hard questions.

Jake once told my husband in a whispering voice, “Dad, I was in my mom’s uterus once and guess what dad, this is really gross, *whispering quieter now* but I was in her crotch. Ewwww, don’t tell anybody.”

    lmao

Congrats on the new baby, I’m so behind on my blogroll and I signed in to see it said you had “just hatched” so I’m visiting on the hatchlings tonight.
