Chronicling Laziness

The blue screen of computer death started putting in appearances this past weekend. Once I stopped hyperventilating over the thought of being internetless and forced to blog from my local library (gah, the idea of blogging on some strangers computer just makes me feel DIRTY), my thoughts immediately turned to my hoard of pictures. I am an avid chronicler of my family’s life but not such an avid developer of said chronicles. “Not such an avid developer” is an understatement of mammoth proportions…. It’s been over a year since I last had pictures made- A YEAR. Once the computer seemed temporarily stabilized I started uploading like a mofo. 728 pictures later I am now having an heart attack at the cost of developing our year, not to mention pangs of guilt from having neglected this for so long. Of course 2 years ago instead of panicking over losing photos in a horrific computer melt down, I was worried that the film was too old to develop… Which reminds me I’ve been sitting on 2 rolls from disposable cameras since April, I really should get that taken care of too. Please tell me I’m not the only lazy slack-ass photo junky mama floating around in cyber space. I would have never forgiven myself if i managed to lose gems like this:

LMAO…NO you are NOT the only slack-ass photo junky Mama out here in cyberspace! Matter of fact, my computer just had some issues of it’s own and quit working entirely all of a sudden…(not even a blue screen!) The biggest thing that went through my mind was “OH SHIT!! I’ve got hundreds, if not thousands, of pictures on my computer that haven’t been saved to a disc!! I hope the hard drive didn’t die and I can get a cd burner to get all those pics onto disc ASAP!”

Luckily it was either the battery or the motherboard that bit the dust, and not the hard drive. I also now have a cd burner, but haven’t started to sort through all the photos yet. (!!!) Need to get crackin’ on that one…

And oh yeah, in my purse, I have a roll of film from god knows how many years ago that I need to go get developed. It will be interesting to see what’s actually on the roll!

I just brought in 600 pics to Costco. Cheapest place I could find to develop them at 18 cents a pic. Still cost me over a 100 smackers though…

But it was worth the price just to see the clerks face when I told her I needed them done in an hour…

She thought I was serious. It was awesome.

    Oh
    My
    God.
    That picture is hysterical.

I haven’t backed up my photos recently, but I do try to do it every couple of months. I haven’t had photos developed in almost 2 years. I did buy a photo-quality printer, but judging by the pictures I printed on it, that moniker is a myth.

I burn mine onto a CD and many do not see the light of day after that. I only print the ones I want to scrapbook, the rest will sit on my computer for ages.

I am soooo bad about not getting pictures developed. After we got married, for our first Christmas, my husband rounded up all of my disposable cameras and film rolls and got them developed for me. There was film there that was 6 years old. It was a bunch of film.

We keep ours on an external hard drive, print the ones we want for scrapbooks, ect., and burn the rest to a CD.

I CANNOT imagine having to blog at the library!! *shutter* Somehow there is a difference better someone watching over my shoulder as I type and reading it later while I am not looking…

I was just thinking the other day that I need to backup since my computer is doing the hokey pokey. I, too, have eons of pictures, but I am trying to plump them all on flickr and then my lazy ass will burn them. As for developing? Yeah right.

Only 728? I have over 2000 pics on my computer. I guess I better do something with those.
