Tell Me About Your Christmas Shopping List!

That’s right, I want to hear what you are getting your kidlets. We try and keep Christmas a little pared down. One or two over $20 items per kid (over $20 retail value but I try my damnedest to get em cheaper), a few books, maybe a game, and then some clothes.

This year I’m looking at grabbing THIS up for my oldest kiddoo (5 1/2). Anyone have any experience with Tabitha? She looks pretty cool.

I’m thinking about splurging for Levi and just getting him THIS I don’t think he’ll notice if he doesn’t have a pile under the tree.

I’m at a loss for Tessa (4). I thought about getting THIS but many of the reviews I dug up complained that it’s limited and booooring.

What are your kids getting?

  • I think Mira would like that, it looks fun.
    Levi needs that, totally.
I wouldn’t spend that much on a boring doll but I like the general idea of the doll.

For my kiddos I’m trying to make as much as possible.
For my 7 year old son I’ve already got a DVD – Never Ending Story & Never Ending Story 2, I’m also making him some PJ’s, found a Star Wars Monopoly game for him and I’m planning on getting him a Lego Brickmaster subscription (a magazine and lego set every other month for a year) I’m also going to make him some old fashion games/ games from other countries. Probably some Magic Tree House Books also.

For my 2 year old son I’ve already got a Bob the Builder block set I got with my Pampers points, he’ll also be getting PJ’s I’m going to make. I’m going to make him some dress up clothes like Pirate, Doctor, Firefighter, etc will be making some for both of them and hopefully a wardrobe to keep them in. not sure of anything else – maybe a music set of some sort.

I tend to go way over board every year no matter how many times I try not to.

DD, 7, is getting a pink guitar and the iCanPlay Guitar Dvd which is really for both of us. I’ll probably also get her a Lazy Town dvd, a Hanna Anderson dress, and some Little Critter and Junie B. Jones books.

DS, 2, will be getting Cars stuff and possibly some sort of powered ride on toy. Not sure about that one yet.

  • Christmas here is always out of control and with 2 out of 4 kids having birthdays in December things just get plain wacky with the amount of stuff they get from relatives so I try to keep what i buy limited. They always ask for one big toy and then the rest is smaller items and stockings are always filled with shampoos, soap, toothbrushes, socks, underwear, etc. This year both my 9 and 7 year olds are asking for Nintendo DS’s, so that will be their “big” toy. I’m thinking about getting my 26 month old an art easel since she loves to color all over my walls and I’m thinking about getting my 8 1/2 month old some kind of tool set. Target had some nice wooden ones for around $20. My kids always get books as well. Good luck with your shopping!

(I forgot I just bought a necklace on etsy for my 7 year old, that maybe Mira would like. I think it was $25 but it is ultra cute! here’s the link: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=6273585 )

  • Haven’t really asked for lists yet.

I found a Cabbage Patch Kid the other day and I threw her in the cart so fast her head spinned when I saw her name was Kamryn LOL just for MY Kamryn.

I used all my mc’ds monopoly bucks and got a bunch of pokemon cards for Dalton’s stocking. Man, those stupid cards are expensive! Been picking up cheap things here and there for Sydney too, but so far nothing to speak of. I did get her some clothes really cheap at Target. I don’t spend much on her clothes considering all the jeans I recently bought her she intentionally ripped her own holes in them! She’s definently got her own style that one. I will probably get DDR, guitar hero or singstar for the PS2. We have the other two singstars and we all spend hours as a family playing it. Worth the $ in my book for sure.

Times are tough around here, but I’m so cheap they will do good on my budget. They know I’m cheap, just to prove it, we went to the other coast last weekend to visit friends. My friend that went with us decided to by her 13 yr. old DD a stuffed animal at CVS. Of course then I HAD to buy mine stuffed animals too since she didn’t see my point of giving her DD hers when they got home, so when I gave them to the kids in the car, Sydney looks at me all amazed and says “MOM! You spent $10 dollars on this??!!! Thanks! ” Hee, hee, I guess my cheap-ness is teaching them to be grateful, lol!

  • I signed up as a Discovery Toys consultant when my little girl was born. The starter kit is still providing me with toys for Christmas presents. Add to these the things she gets from three sets of grandparents, an aunt and uncle on DH’s side, and a name draw gift on mine, she requires very little.

I purchased some fabric at a buy 1 metre, get 2 free sale and have asked my MiL to make curtains. I found *Olivia Helps with Christmas* by Ian Falconer in the Scholastic books catalogue. I will buy ice skates and a little frame that helps kids stay up on the ice and call it quits. (And hope with all of my heart that no one buys cheap plastic toys or ones with batteries because I am just tired of them.)
