Because I Can Never Leave Well Enough Alone
Hair boredom is striking again. It’s summer, so of course I am wracked with the urge to lop off a foot of hair and flounce around town in a short sassy ‘do. But, once again I’m trying to fight the urge for my husband’s sake. He’s a long hair man apparently, which I find kind of funny because we met while I was in the midst of growing out a super short hair style. He must have seen my long hair aura or maybe it was my tits. They could make any man over look a lack of hair.
Since I’m STILL sleeping in the dinning room, I don’t want to do anything that might plunge the Hubster into a depressive malaise further delaying him finishing up the piddly stuff he’s already avoiding doing to get us back in our room. This leaves me with few hair alteration options. I could dye it but with a newborn I’m not down with the potential chemical load. I could trim it (booooooooooorrrrrrrrriiiing) or I could go for an over all design restructuring. What do you think? Could I go from
to a banged beauty
without looking like a member of the cast of Napoleon Dynamite

I vote no bangs, really not you (maybe in high school, but not with 4 kiddos)

I just realized how shiny your hair is. Anyway, I think you could do bangs, but to avoid looking too Idaho you might try to do choppy bangs or side swept bangs and layer up the rest of your hair to keep everything from getting too boxy. I love this hair bang combo (http://just-a-bowl-of-cherries.blogspot.com/2007/09/hair-wanted.html). You can’t cut it short tho, not only for your husband’s sake. Look at that baby in your pic up there… he’s wrapped in a blanket of hair and you do not want to piss him off. What is up with men and hair?

Being a recent Bang-survivor, let me tell you, this is not a decision to be taken lightly. It takes a really long time to grow out bangs. BUT you are one of those people that bangs not only look good, but, let’s just say …. FABULOUS!!!
For you, bangs are good. For me, bangs are evil and out to destroy my astonishingly remarkable good looks.

I like the side-swept bangs idea. I think it’d look good, Fidge.
You have gorgeous hair.

I just took the plunge for bangs two months ago and I am so happy that I did! I fought it since I haven’t had bangs since junior high and so had tons of baggage attached to them (super pimply forehead anyone??).
You, you should also do this. Your picture with the bangs is adorable, and if you are still taking your prenatals if you hate them they will be grown out in about 10 days (slight exaggeration but I have had to get mine trimmed 3 times since I got them - I don’t even want to talk about how quickly my eyebrows keep growing). And while the thought of growing out your bangs may be daunting, it wouldn’t be as bad as growing out your whole head ‘o hair! At the very least you could think of it as your bangs getting a head start on a new short ‘do.
I would suggest not getting the in-the-eyes bangs (as adorable as the picture in Amber’s link is) because, lets face it, we have children and should not have obstructed vision at any point.

I agree, soft bangs (not too thick) look good on you. If you want to save length but add some movement and some styling options, I would do long layers. I really liked mine cause it allowed me to quickly curl the ends, so if I had my hair up in a ponytail, it looked like it had been styled when it really took me about 60 seconds (literally) to do.
My hair is currently to my waist and I honestly can’t wait to get it off my head. But I am working on making it healthier before I chop it so I can donate it.

I vote yes on the bangs! I think that you would look great with soft bangs. I also think that some long layers would be great if you want to lighten up your hair for the summer.

you are looking more chipper! Great! They say never to cut your hair while pregnant or for 3 months after. Hormones make us do crazy things. But the bangs would look cute and I got some. I seem younger with them.
Plus they are a subtle change.
