I made a deal with my husband and moved a wall in the downstairs and added a door to create a room just for children's toys. You see back in those days we had only one daughter and later gave birth to my 2nd child while in that house. Friends and family always commented on how neat and clean my family room downstairs was. That toy room was my trick. I would allow my then 7 year old to take any toy out, but it had to go back in the room at the end of the day. That room mostly looked like a scene from "Twister" (long before the movie came out mind you) but I could and did close the door and take all the praise for the clean house!
