first grade fury

I knew that raising girls would be challenging. Girls seem to toss around more attitude, make you guess what is wrong, and need far more finessing then most boys ever do.

Lately, the mouthy monster has landed and my girls have been spending a lot of time “thinking” about things (like what they just said, how they just said it, and how they can avoid doing that in the future so they don’t end up in the laundry room shackled to the washing machine for all of eternity).

Yesterday was just one of those days.

Mira woke up on the wrong side of the bed and quickly ended up on the wrong side of my mood. She refused to get moving, repeatedly mouthed off, lost her backpack and jacket, and had a melt down at the bus stop. I, being the gracious loving mother that I am, told her to suck it up and enjoy her school day because when she got home, she was grounded.

T.V. time was taken away and since she came home with no homework, I set about remedying the situation. I told Mira to write her spelling words 3 times each. Her first attempt was a jumbled mess. I could tell she really didn’t want to be doing this and churned out a craptacular product hoping it would slide by. What house has she been living in?

So I made her start over again.

Boy, was she mad

Mira was mad I made her practice her spelling words
